Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.15% to hit a new all time high, while the S&P 500 index added 0.28%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), which rose 3.30% or 0.72 points to trade at 22.56 at the close. Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) added 1.96% or 3.01 points to end at 156.30 and Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT) was up 1.61% or 1.27 points to 80.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:MRK), which lost 1.31% or 1.54 points to trade at 115.63 in late trade. Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM) declined 0.97% or 2.59 points to end at 264.21 and Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) shed 0.83% or 0.78 points to 92.97.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) which rose 4.93% to 250.00, First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) which was up 3.78% to settle at 249.28 and Tapestry Inc (NYSE:TPR) which gained 3.64% to close at 44.12.
The worst performers were Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:REGN) which was down 4.63% to 1,091.98 in late trade, Moodys Corporation (NYSE:MCO) which lost 3.17% to settle at 479.00 and Ross Stores Inc (NASDAQ:ROST) which was down 2.81% to 149.98 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Kaival Brands Innovations Group Inc (NASDAQ:KAVL) which rose 133.16% to 1.35, Laser Photonics Corp Unit (NASDAQ:LASE) which was up 80.60% to settle at 18.80 and Treasure Global Inc (NASDAQ:TGL) which gained 73.45% to close at 1.18.
The worst performers were Elevai Labs Inc (NASDAQ:ELAB) which was down 62.00% to 0.11 in late trade, Aditx Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:ADTX) which lost 29.69% to settle at 0.27 and Freight Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:FRGT) which was down 28.82% to 0.08 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1539 to 1275 and 88 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2065 fell and 1199 advanced, while 154 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 1.61% to 15.89.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.24% or 6.35 to $2,652.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.56% or 0.40 to hit $70.60 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.29 to trade at $73.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.44% to 1.11, while USD/JPY fell 0.23% to 143.59.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 100.62.
