Done a lot of trading this morning and can't update constantly. However, current positions ahead of NY session: FTSE long avg 349; FTSE short avg 279; CAC long now 289; dax long 794; and dow long 268. Every single one underwater. None huge but overall I've got quite a lot on.

Just checking to see if anyone has had a heart attack yet lol ...what would help everyone on here is to remember its Us v the boys and the CBs welcome to one of the hardet games in the world where the cards are well and truely stacked against US we just pick up the crumbs using our own hard earned money the boys just gamble with someone elses ......just posting a tradethe most important thingis WHY you took the trade whatever the reason is..... someone may just learn something or not as the case maybe!! how else will you learn, the market is there to take our money from most of you. We all need to learn learn and learn some more that includes me ....just one observation for the trading today is to observe the FIB retrace levels for this move combined with the MA,s etc.......what is it going to tell you ? i g´tee 1 thing it will repeat its self over time and time again So when you stop trading today its not about HOW MUCH have i made or LOST its about WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED...anything or nothing!! have a good day.

some good thoughts and opinion on here this morning, thanks all. Personally, I think the one error many are making repeatedly at the moment/recently is trying to fathom the why's and wherefore's of these moves, and in some way justify them into a cohesive reason for a position, short or long, We have to remember that there are trillions out there in the system at mom, even over and above CB influence, it is all moving, being allocated, re-allocated constantly, and that is before we even consider options, derivatives, bond markets, equity-related structured products and the margins and complexities that go with all those. I think this current market is all about making quick, sharp calls, banking money where possible and retreating when it doesn't feel right, to fight another day. All of course with half an eye on TA levels as part of the bigger picture! Apologies for the long post, was typing as thinking!

I do hope you are right Steve as I have gone long from 7240 b/e stop and I'm toying with leaving it there a while if it doesn't knock me out

I'm long from 7260 and plan to just hold it all the way up to 7500. It's hard to resist closing positions when they start to turn against you, but everytime in the past, I would have been better off simply holding it all the way. And it always goes back to 7500 and above. Easier said than done though!

Indeed. The temptation to take the profit is extremely hard to resist!

Manic Mal how about moving your stop up to close in profit on the way up when the trade inevitably goes against you…this could avoid the popcorn effect of seeing a nice profit given back…yeah can always re-enter after the reset…

I always find that my re-entry ends up losing pips when compared to just letting it run all the way. I think it works best if you have a super low entry which gets some legs on it.

Could well be. I always have a nagging doubt when short that this is still behind everything else. Despite the turmoil in the world, shorts give me more headaches than longs.
