Investing.com – U.S. equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.04%, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.16%, and the NASDAQ Composite index fell 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:MCD), which rose 2.20% or 5.59 points to trade at 259.39 at the close. Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) added 1.60% or 1.53 points to end at 97.10 and Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) was up 1.60% or 2.98 points to 189.08 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS), which lost 1.72% or 7.87 points to trade at 450.18 in late trade. JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:JPM) declined 1.19% or 2.37 points to end at 196.30 and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) shed 1.04% or 2.19 points to 207.49.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were FactSet Research Systems Inc (NYSE:FDS) which rose 3.77% to 423.73, FMC Corporation (NYSE:FMC) which was up 3.70% to settle at 56.39 and Etsy Inc (NASDAQ:ETSY) which gained 3.38% to close at 60.17.
The worst performers were Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ:AVGO) which was down 4.39% to 1,658.47 in late trade, ResMed Inc (NYSE:RMD) which lost 3.49% to settle at 205.83 and NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) which was down 3.22% to 126.57 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Tectonic Therapeutic Inc (NASDAQ:TECX) which rose 1,115.00% to 17.01, American Rebel Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:AREB) which was up 149.51% to settle at 0.76 and Sharecare Inc (NASDAQ:SHCR) which gained 76.91% to close at 1.37.
The worst performers were Feutune Light Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:FLFV) which was down 69.63% to 2.56 in late trade, Redwoods Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:RWOD) which lost 60.34% to settle at 2.34 and Kaival Brands Innovations Group Inc (NASDAQ:KAVL) which was down 56.45% to 1.25 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1440 to 1401 and 88 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1766 rose and 1586 declined, while 124 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 0.60% to 13.20.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.48% or 34.95 to $2,334.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.81% or 0.66 to hit $80.63 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.72% or 0.62 to trade at $85.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.07, while USD/JPY rose 0.48% to 159.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 105.46.
