Investing.com – U.S. equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Telecoms and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Industrials, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.15%, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.04%, and the NASDAQ Composite index gained 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM), which rose 1.27% or 2.91 points to trade at 231.94 at the close. American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) added 1.18% or 2.63 points to end at 224.82 and Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT) was up 0.48% or 0.32 points to 67.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Boeing Co (NYSE:BA), which lost 1.90% or 3.43 points to trade at 177.27 in late trade. Dow Inc (NYSE:DOW) declined 1.86% or 1.04 points to end at 55.02 and Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:CAT) shed 1.50% or 4.89 points to 321.47.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:ADBE) which rose 14.51% to 525.31, Hasbro Inc (NASDAQ:HAS) which was up 6.00% to settle at 61.50 and Gilead Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:GILD) which gained 3.62% to close at 65.06.
The worst performers were Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NYSE:NCLH) which was down 7.49% to 16.56 in late trade, Carnival Corporation (NYSE:CCL) which lost 7.09% to settle at 15.34 and First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) which was down 6.16% to 273.61 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Interactive Strength Inc (NASDAQ:TRNR) which rose 3,256.73% to 2.87, Kaival Brands Innovations Group Inc (NASDAQ:KAVL) which was up 338.24% to settle at 5.96 and LA Rosa Holdings Corp (NASDAQ:LRHC) which gained 75.94% to close at 1.17.
The worst performers were In8bio Inc (NASDAQ:INAB) which was down 35.12% to 1.09 in late trade, Nexalin Technology Inc (NASDAQ:NXL) which lost 34.85% to settle at 0.90 and QXO Inc (NASDAQ:QXO) which was down 34.66% to 134.21 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2134 to 729 and 70 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2490 fell and 879 advanced, while 110 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 6.03% to 12.66.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.26% or 29.20 to $2,347.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.25% or 0.20 to hit $78.42 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.25% or 0.21 to trade at $82.54 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.07, while USD/JPY rose 0.24% to 157.39.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 105.13.
