Investing.com – U.S. equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Financials sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Technology, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.55% to hit a new all time high, while the S&P 500 index climbed 0.13%, and the NASDAQ Composite index declined 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), which rose 6.36% or 1.25 points to trade at 20.91 at the close. Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:MRK) added 2.49% or 2.87 points to end at 117.96 and Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) was up 2.47% or 1.23 points to 51.03 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL), which lost 2.78% or 6.18 points to trade at 216.32 in late trade. Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) declined 0.86% or 1.60 points to end at 184.89 and Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) shed 0.78% or 1.22 points to 155.55.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) which rose 6.36% to 20.91, Bath & Body Works Inc. (NYSE:BBWI) which was up 6.25% to settle at 28.91 and Oracle Corporation (NYSE:ORCL) which gained 5.12% to close at 170.33.
The worst performers were Qorvo Inc (NASDAQ:QRVO) which was down 6.68% to 100.46 in late trade, Skyworks Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:SWKS) which lost 5.09% to settle at 97.25 and Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:MU) which was down 4.43% to 87.18 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were iSpecimen Inc (NASDAQ:ISPC) which rose 2,216.06% to 4.47, NuCana PLC (NASDAQ:NCNA) which was up 150.79% to settle at 6.37 and Bone Biologics Corp (NASDAQ:BBLG) which gained 133.75% to close at 1.87.
The worst performers were JBDI Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:JBDI) which was down 91.95% to 2.13 in late trade, LeddarTech Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:LDTC) which lost 29.86% to settle at 0.31 and Highest Performances Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:HPH) which was down 29.29% to 0.60 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1900 to 913 and 93 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1658 fell and 1647 advanced, while 127 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 3.50% to 17.14.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.00% or 0.05 to $2,610.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.29% or 1.55 to hit $69.30 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.83% or 1.31 to trade at $72.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.11, while USD/JPY fell 0.14% to 140.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 100.35.
