Investing.com – Russia equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecom, Power and Oil and Gas sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Manufacturing, Mining and Oil and Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the RTSI fell 2.04%, while the MICEX index added 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the RTSI were NMTP (MCX:NMTP), which rose 11.16% or 0.1400 points to trade at 1.3950 at the close. AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) added 8.77% or 1.350 points to end at 16.750 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) was up 4.58% or 1.79 points to 40.89 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which lost 4.63% or 3.800 points to trade at 78.200 in late trade. Transneft (pref) (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 4.01% or 5590.0 points to end at 133810.0 and Surgut (MCX:SNGS) shed 2.39% or 0.790 points to 32.200.
The top performers on the MICEX were NMTP (MCX:NMTP) which rose 11.16% to 1.3950, AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) which was up 8.77% to settle at 16.750 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) which gained 4.58% to close at 40.89.
The worst performers were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) which was down 4.63% to 78.200 in late trade, Transneft (pref) (MCX:TRNF_p) which lost 4.01% to settle at 133810.0 and Surgut (MCX:SNGS) which was down 2.39% to 32.200 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 77 to 66 and 4 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.26% or 3.30 to $1263.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 5.01% or 2.66 to hit $50.39 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 3.19% or 1.84 to trade at $56.06 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 3.51% to 67.434, while EUR/RUB rose 3.24% to 77.294.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 94.16.
