Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, General Retailers and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.47%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PARIS:SAF), which rose 3.68% or 2.47 points to trade at 69.62 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (PARIS:PERP) added 0.74% or 0.69 points to end at 93.52 and Alstom SA (PARIS:ALSO) was up 0.65% or 0.18 points to 27.67 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which lost 4.32% or 0.31 points to trade at 6.94 in late trade. Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) declined 2.28% or 1.73 points to end at 74.09 and Alcatel Lucent SA (PARIS:ALUA) shed 2.22% or 0.068 points to 2.994.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which rose 12.65% to 37.480, Safran SA (PARIS:SAF) which was up 3.68% to settle at 69.62 and Havas (PARIS:HAVA) which gained 2.59% to close at 7.530.
The worst performers were Imerys (PARIS:IMTP) which was down 4.65% to 61.47 in late trade, Iliad (PARIS:ILD) which lost 4.37% to settle at 201.30 and ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) which was down 4.32% to 6.94 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 425 to 282 and 53 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.08% to 29.65.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.12% or 1.40 to $1132.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 4.93% or 2.23 to hit $47.45 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 4.07% or 2.04 to trade at $52.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1210, while EUR/GBP rose 0.62% to 0.7306.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 96.04.
