Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Engineering, Gas & Water and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.59%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (PARIS:ALSO), which rose 3.60% or 0.99 points to trade at 28.61 at the close. Orange SA (PARIS:ORAN) added 2.31% or 0.32 points to end at 14.17 and Bouygues SA (PARIS:BOUY) was up 2.05% or 0.69 points to 34.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Electricite de France SA (PARIS:EDF), which lost 0.53% or 0.10 points to trade at 17.73 in late trade. Technip (PARIS:TECF) declined 0.45% or 0.21 points to end at 46.56 and Essilor International Compagnie Generale d`Optique SA (PARIS:ESSI) shed 0.37% or 0.40 points to 107.05.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Alstom SA (PARIS:ALSO) which rose 3.60% to 28.61, Eiffage (PARIS:FOUG) which was up 2.96% to settle at 56.96 and Ipsos (PARIS:ISOS) which gained 2.84% to close at 19.73.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which was down 4.01% to 10.18 in late trade, Korian Medica SA (PARIS:KORI) which lost 3.54% to settle at 29.995 and Neopost (PARIS:NPOS) which was down 3.53% to 32.23 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 355 to 352 and 57 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.55% to 33.45.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.25% or 2.80 to $1118.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.50% or 1.61 to hit $44.44 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 3.66% or 1.81 to trade at $47.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.1166, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.7305.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 96.16.
