Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the General Retailers, Basic Materials and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.05%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 6.05% or 0.21 points to trade at 3.75 at the close. Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) added 2.41% or 0.250 points to end at 10.625 and Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) was up 1.64% or 0.58 points to 35.89 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which lost 2.03% or 0.435 points to trade at 20.975 in late trade. L`Oreal SA (PA:OREP) declined 0.74% or 1.15 points to end at 153.95 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) shed 0.72% or 0.18 points to 24.75.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which rose 6.05% to 3.75, Maurel Et Prom (PA:MAUP) which was up 3.28% to settle at 2.77 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) which gained 2.41% to close at 10.625.
The worst performers were Adocia (PA:ADOC) which was down 2.76% to 74.000 in late trade, Mercialys (PA:MERY) which lost 2.71% to settle at 18.29 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) which was down 2.03% to 20.975 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 403 to 326 and 65 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.89% to 21.99.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.68% or 7.40 to $1073.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.31% or 0.47 to hit $36.28 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.03 to trade at $36.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.0967, while EUR/GBP rose 0.96% to 0.7403.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 98.14.
