Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Financials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.81% to hit a new all time high, while the S&P 500 index gained 0.90%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 1.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Boeing Co (NYSE:BA), which rose 2.98% or 4.48 points to trade at 155.00 at the close. JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:JPM) added 2.92% or 5.99 points to end at 211.22 and American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) was up 2.75% or 7.38 points to 275.97 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD), which lost 0.78% or 3.22 points to trade at 408.36 in late trade. Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ) declined 0.76% or 0.34 points to end at 44.18 and Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) shed 0.73% or 1.24 points to 168.88.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Albemarle Corp (NYSE:ALB) which rose 8.25% to 102.09, United Airlines Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:UAL) which was up 6.51% to settle at 59.24 and Deckers Outdoor Corporation (NYSE:DECK) which gained 6.39% to close at 166.81.
The worst performers were Transdigm Group Incorporated (NYSE:TDG) which was down 4.48% to 1,355.46 in late trade, Extra Space Storage Inc (NYSE:EXR) which lost 3.87% to settle at 169.48 and Equifax Inc (NYSE:EFX) which was down 3.37% to 283.60 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Biodexa Pharmaceuticals PLC DRC (NASDAQ:BDRX) which rose 2,212.50% to 5.55, Streamline Health Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:STRM) which was up 1,185.64% to settle at 2.57 and LakeShore Biopharma Co Ltd (NASDAQ:LSB) which gained 699.12% to close at 5.45.
The worst performers were Color Star Technology Co Ltd (NASDAQ:ADD) which was down 39.98% to 0.27 in late trade, Fangdd Network Group Ltd (NASDAQ:DUO) which lost 32.89% to settle at 2.53 and iCoreConnect Inc (NASDAQ:ICCT) which was down 31.55% to 0.41 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1849 to 975 and 67 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2295 rose and 987 declined, while 116 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 6.25% to 19.21.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.31% or 8.30 to $2,670.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.30% or 0.96 to hit $74.67 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.64 to trade at $78.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.51% to 1.10, while USD/JPY rose 1.23% to 148.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 102.24.
