Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Equity Investment Instruments and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which rose 6.64% or 30.00 points to trade at 481.90 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 5.57% or 24.70 points to end at 468.50 and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) was up 4.95% or 38.00 points to 806.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV), which lost 4.34% or 23.80 points to trade at 524.20 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 3.09% or 17.00 points to end at 533.00 and Entain PLC (LON:ENT) shed 3.08% or 16.00 points to 503.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1124 to 741 and 617 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.67% or 16.30 to $2,428.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.00% or 0.73 to hit $73.67 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.85% or 0.65 to trade at $76.95 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.66% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.43% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 102.83.
