Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia lost 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK), which rose 5.07% or 52.00 points to trade at 1,078.00 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 1.97% or 1.14 points to end at 58.94 and Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) was up 1.83% or 4.53 points to 251.94 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rostelekom PAO (MCX:RTKM), which lost 3.03% or 2.81 points to trade at 90.01 in late trade. PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) declined 2.88% or 170.00 points to end at 5,724.00 and Bank VTB PAO (MCX:VTBR) 2.56% or 0.00 points to 0.02.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 179 to 69 and 5 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 3.30% to 24.34.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.29% or 6.85 to $2,333.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.57% or 0.44 to hit $78.18 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.05 to trade at $82.16 a barrel.
USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 89.10, while EUR/RUB rose 0.01% to 95.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 105.25.
