Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Mining and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia rose 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Novolipetsk Steel PAO (MCX:NLMK), which rose 4.96% or 6.58 points to trade at 139.28 at the close. Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank OAO (MCX:CBOM) added 3.89% or 0.23 points to end at 6.20 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) was up 2.56% or 0.41 points to 16.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included VK Company Ltd DRC (MCX:VKCO), which lost 2.64% or 9.20 points to trade at 338.80 in late trade. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) declined 2.63% or 30.00 points to end at 1,110.00 and PIK (MCX:PIKK) shed 2.41% or 16.40 points to 663.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 145 to 97 and 11 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 0.70% to 35.97.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.84% or 21.20 to $2,547.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.17% or 0.12 to hit $69.32 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $72.88 a barrel.
USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 88.25, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 98.05.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 101.03.
