Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Power, Mining and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were MMK (MCX:MAGN), which rose 3.31% or 1.485 points to trade at 46.400 at the close. Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) added 3.05% or 139.0 points to end at 4689.0 and Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) was up 2.27% or 2.03 points to 91.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which lost 1.15% or 1.11 points to trade at 95.01 in late trade. NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) declined 0.97% or 11.00 points to end at 1124.00 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) shed 0.91% or 9.20 points to 1006.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 115 to 103 and 17 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 1.90% to 24.770 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.01% or 0.10 to $1228.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.46% or 0.80 to hit $53.83 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.18% or 0.75 to trade at $62.73 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.11% to 65.5960, while EUR/RUB rose 0.02% to 74.7775.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 96.445.
