Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, IT and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 5.83%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 5.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 22.61% or 28.05 points to trade at 152.10 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) added 17.77% or 10.85 points to end at 71.90 and GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) was up 16.43% or 11.40 points to 80.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which lost 14.67% or 7.90 points to trade at 45.95 in late trade. HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) declined 1.60% or 14.30 points to end at 881.25 and Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) shed 1.22% or 3.15 points to 255.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which rose 18.58% to 72.45, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was up 13.01% to settle at 3580.45 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 11.75% to close at 2052.50.
The worst performers were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 1.39% to 882.40 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 0.88% to settle at 439.95 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 0.14% to 428.35 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 983 to 553 and 80 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1380 rose and 952 declined, while 134 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 7.06% to 67.1000.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 2.20% or 32.60 to $1511.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 6.06% or 1.57 to hit $27.48 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 5.13% or 1.46 to trade at $29.93 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.38% to 75.065, while EUR/INR rose 0.74% to 80.5335.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.00% at 102.565.
