Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Auto and Green Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 2.05% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 2.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM), which rose 5.84% or 157.60 points to trade at 2,857.45 at the close. Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) added 5.11% or 23.55 points to end at 484.55 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 4.57% or 60.15 points to 1,377.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:SBIL), which lost 1.03% or 14.90 points to trade at 1,427.95 in late trade. Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:TACN) declined 0.43% or 4.90 points to end at 1,135.00 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) gained 0.25% or 24.10 points to 9,725.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 5.38% to 2,845.00, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was up 5.04% to settle at 484.25 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 4.05% to close at 1,371.50.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 0.68% to 438.75 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 0.83% to settle at 1,492.80 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was up 0.87% to 2,571.90 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1833 to 385 and 39 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2757 rose and 953 declined, while 91 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.49% to 16.88.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.55% or 37.00 to $2,353.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.41% or 0.31 to hit $75.86 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.38% or 0.30 to trade at $80.17 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 83.40, while EUR/INR fell 0.05% to 90.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 104.05.
