Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Real Estate and Carbon sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.36% to hit a new 3-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 4.32% or 67.85 points to trade at 1636.35 at the close. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) added 3.56% or 8.40 points to end at 244.30 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 2.87% or 78.95 points to 2828.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which lost 4.45% or 35.60 points to trade at 763.30 in late trade. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 4.28% or 15.05 points to end at 337.75 and Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) shed 3.61% or 6.45 points to 171.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 4.15% to 1636.25, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was up 3.67% to settle at 244.35 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which gained 2.63% to close at 2826.20.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 4.08% to 336.50 in late trade, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which lost 3.48% to settle at 172.05 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.98% to 456.10 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1081 to 527 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1621 fell and 1007 advanced, while 143 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.19% to 15.2775.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.79% or 10.25 to $1308.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.06% or 0.60 to hit $57.47 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.75% or 0.50 to trade at $67.17 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 69.513, while EUR/INR fell 0.07% to 78.5110.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 96.855.
