Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Chemicals and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Media and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.93%, while the MDAX index gained 0.62%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 3.66% or 0.740 points to trade at 20.960 at the close. Linde AG 1 (DE:LIN1) added 3.35% or 6.5500 points to end at 202.1000 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) was up 2.34% or 1.700 points to 74.360 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 1.69% or 0.156 points to trade at 9.052 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 0.60% or 0.049 points to end at 8.137 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) shed 0.44% or 0.90 points to 202.20.
The top performers on the MDAX were Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which rose 3.67% to 63.600, Osram Licht AG (DE:OSRn) which was up 3.12% to settle at 42.00 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which gained 2.98% to close at 112.20.
The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) which was down 4.52% to 68.650 in late trade, CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which lost 3.35% to settle at 41.580 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was down 2.28% to 61.82 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Isra Vision O.N. (DE:ISRG) which rose 4.41% to 59.20, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which was up 3.87% to settle at 33.840 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 3.87% to close at 18.800.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 9.09% to 52.000 in late trade, United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which lost 7.98% to settle at 50.500 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 3.75% to 10.910 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 405 to 318 and 61 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.78% to 18.41.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.32% or 4.00 to $1255.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 3.15% or 2.22 to hit $72.75 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.26% or 1.72 to trade at $77.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.55% to 1.1584, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.8817.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 94.81.
