Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Construction, Industrials and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Telecoms and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.25% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index added 0.48%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 3.46% or 0.375 points to trade at 11.210 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 2.69% or 0.365 points to end at 13.935 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 1.76% or 1.480 points to 85.390 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 3.42% or 0.885 points to trade at 24.970 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) declined 2.81% or 0.585 points to end at 20.250 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) shed 2.78% or 0.263 points to 9.199.
The top performers on the MDAX were Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which rose 4.22% to 12.96, Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was up 3.81% to settle at 77.361 and Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which gained 2.01% to close at 139.30.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 2.59% to 38.300 in late trade, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which lost 2.00% to settle at 3.83 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 1.57% to 72.730 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 3.92% to 11.280, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 2.64% to settle at 33.460 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 2.53% to close at 97.010.
The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 3.55% to 34.19 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 3.17% to settle at 37.890 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 1.79% to 5.480 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 401 to 349 and 40 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.82% to 11.58 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.42% or 18.69 to $1297.71 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $50.66 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.04 to trade at $56.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.38% to 1.1939, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8802.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 91.98.
