Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction, Transportation & Logistics and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Media, Chemicals and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.09%, while the MDAX index lost 0.36%, and the TecDAX index added 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which rose 4.57% or 5.250 points to trade at 120.250 at the close. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) added 3.57% or 2.220 points to end at 64.400 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) was up 1.64% or 3.25 points to 201.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 2.10% or 0.163 points to trade at 7.593 in late trade. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) declined 1.40% or 0.960 points to end at 67.480 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) shed 1.22% or 0.620 points to 50.320.
The top performers on the MDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which rose 2.68% to 153.200, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was up 1.97% to settle at 92.22 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which gained 1.34% to close at 7.85.
The worst performers were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which was down 3.43% to 15.3250 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which lost 3.10% to settle at 95.2500 and Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which was down 2.95% to 52.600 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which unchanged 3.11% to 0.12, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was up 2.91% to settle at 22.660 and Rhoen Klinikum AG (DE:RHKG) which gained 2.89% to close at 24.240.
The worst performers were WashTec AG O.N. (DE:WSUG) which was down 3.92% to 61.200 in late trade, Tele Columbus AG (DE:TC1n) which lost 2.73% to settle at 1.96 and Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co KGaA (DE:BVB) which was down 2.06% to 7.610 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 348 to 342 and 88 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.41% to 17.17.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.65% or 21.75 to $1343.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.71% or 0.40 to hit $56.38 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.33 to trade at $66.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1349, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.8691.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 96.300.
