Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Construction and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Software, Telecoms and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.59%, while the MDAX index fell 0.36%, and the TecDAX index added 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 1.66% or 0.220 points to trade at 13.478 at the close. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) added 1.06% or 1.000 points to end at 95.500 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 1.00% or 0.250 points to 25.250 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SAP SE (DE:SAPG), which lost 3.33% or 3.150 points to trade at 91.430 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 2.47% or 1.02 points to end at 40.20 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) shed 2.32% or 0.570 points to 24.000.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which rose 1.99% to 56.50, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was up 1.53% to settle at 65.020 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which gained 1.48% to close at 82.320.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 12.15% to 0.43 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG (DE:DWNG) which lost 3.10% to settle at 35.650 and Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which was down 2.48% to 32.260 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 2.94% to 11.190, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 1.68% to settle at 13.950 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 1.49% to close at 54.400.
The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 3.71% to 25.210 in late trade, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which lost 3.06% to settle at 68.000 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 2.33% to 12.600 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 390 to 317 and 107 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.03% to 12.37.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.27% or 3.50 to $1322.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.59% or 1.01 to hit $64.58 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.84% or 0.58 to trade at $69.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.74% to 1.2035, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8889.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 91.64.
