Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Telecoms and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Technology, Construction and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.09%, while the MDAX index gained 0.13%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.44%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which rose 1.14% or 0.38 points to trade at 33.61 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) added 0.82% or 0.125 points to end at 15.300 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG) was up 0.74% or 0.800 points to 109.550 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 1.59% or 0.094 points to trade at 5.832 in late trade. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) declined 1.20% or 0.125 points to end at 10.310 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) shed 0.90% or 1.250 points to 137.000.

The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which rose 2.73% to 31.765, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was up 2.20% to settle at 26.770 and Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which gained 1.34% to close at 109.550.

The worst performers were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 1.82% to 31.56 in late trade, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which lost 1.20% to settle at 19.355 and Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was down 1.14% to 51.316 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 2.90% to 9.878, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was up 2.52% to settle at 3.617 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 1.78% to close at 33.215.

The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 3.10% to 6.960 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which lost 3.03% to settle at 7.307 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 2.11% to 24.40 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 428 to 420 and 24 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.34% to 17.51 a new 6-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.65% or 8.65 to $1322.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.88% or 0.84 to hit $43.91 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.86% or 0.86 to trade at $45.34 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.56% to 1.0964, while EUR/GBP rose 0.54% to 0.8378.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.61% at 97.53.
