Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Utilities and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverage, Transportation & Logistics and Telecom sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.02% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index fell 0.22%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which rose 1.28% or 0.295 points to trade at 23.405 at the close. Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) added 1.28% or 0.800 points to end at 63.510 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) was up 0.90% or 0.250 points to 28.060 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn), which lost 1.71% or 0.485 points to trade at 27.795 in late trade. Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) declined 1.08% or 2.200 points to end at 202.250 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) shed 0.86% or 0.135 points to 15.640.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which rose 4.73% to 67.750, A.Springer AG VNA (XETRA:SPRGn) which was up 1.24% to settle at 56.400 and Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which gained 1.12% to close at 31.48.
The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which was down 5.52% to 46.730 in late trade, Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which lost 3.41% to settle at 39.198 and Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which was down 3.07% to 40.360 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which rose 3.51% to 44.045, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was up 3.22% to settle at 6.090 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which gained 3.18% to close at 9.962.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 3.16% to 12.105 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which lost 1.43% to settle at 1.993 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was down 1.06% to 12.100 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 393 to 332 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.10% to 20.88.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.70% or 8.60 to $1223.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 0.92% or 0.46 to hit $49.56 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 2.01% or 1.16 to trade at $56.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1284, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.7411.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.37% at 95.20.
