Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the DAX Food & Beverage, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and DAX Media sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the DAX Insurance, DAX Telecom and DAX Utilities sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.41%, while the MDAX index lost 0.32%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.58%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG), which rose 2.14% or 0.890 points to trade at 42.550 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) added 2.06% or 0.465 points to end at 23.090 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) was up 0.48% or 0.240 points to 50.760 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which lost 2.87% or 5.850 points to trade at 198.300 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 1.44% or 0.200 points to end at 13.725 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) shed 1.32% or 0.205 points to 15.285.

The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which rose 4.10% to 24.245, Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was up 3.38% to settle at 95.000 and Brenntag AG (XETRA:BNRGn) which gained 3.10% to close at 48.320.

The worst performers were Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which was down 3.54% to 47.127 in late trade, Fielmann AG O.N. (XETRA:FIEG) which lost 2.49% to settle at 60.310 and Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was down 2.43% to 48.170 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 5.12% to 10.990, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was up 4.72% to settle at 92.550 and Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which gained 3.28% to close at 2.930.

The worst performers were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 3.34% to 9.811 in late trade, Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which lost 0.90% to settle at 34.500 and United Internet AG NA (XETRA:UTDI) which was down 0.65% to 38.470 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 394 to 337 and 20 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 20.38.

In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 1.61% or 20.20 to $1276.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 1.55% or 0.69 to hit $45.22 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 0.60% or 0.29 to trade at $49.42 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.1291, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.7512.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 95.08.
