Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Technology and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.68% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index lost 2.05%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn), which rose 0.13% or 0.25 points to trade at 189.45 at the close. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) added 0.03% or 0.010 points to end at 37.230 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) was down 0.22% or 0.25 points to 111.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 6.21% or 0.918 points to trade at 13.856 in late trade. Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) declined 3.20% or 5.80 points to end at 175.20 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) shed 3.16% or 0.730 points to 22.400.
The top performers on the MDAX were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which rose 1.56% to 41.540, Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which was up 1.12% to settle at 36.260 and Hannover Rueck SE (DE:HNRGn) which gained 0.64% to close at 110.80.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 4.75% to 81.020 in late trade, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which lost 4.00% to settle at 46.750 and Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was down 3.77% to 88.050 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which rose 4.43% to 41.25, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 2.02% to settle at 6.580 and Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which gained 0.48% to close at 27.000.
The worst performers were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 6.17% to 16.260 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 5.07% to settle at 76.750 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 4.30% to 49.000 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 584 to 155 and 65 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 10.04% to 19.39 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.98% or 13.20 to $1334.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.55% or 1.02 to hit $64.78 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.11% or 1.47 to trade at $68.18 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.48% to 1.2454, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.8810.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.63% at 89.04.
