Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Media and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.76% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index fell 1.25%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which rose 2.45% or 2.500 points to trade at 104.550 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 1.16% or 0.260 points to end at 22.660 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) was up 0.82% or 0.230 points to 28.310 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p), which lost 3.04% or 3.40 points to trade at 108.50 in late trade. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) declined 1.87% or 0.560 points to end at 29.410 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) shed 1.87% or 3.22 points to 168.84.
The top performers on the MDAX were Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which rose 0.74% to 68.000, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was up 0.41% to settle at 46.940 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which gained 0.35% to close at 81.300.
The worst performers were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 4.77% to 39.560 in late trade, Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which lost 3.51% to settle at 104.350 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 3.51% to 89.560 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 0.71% to 9.712, Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which was down 0.48% to settle at 26.870 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which lost 0.64% to close at 77.500.
The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 5.94% to 38.80 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 5.10% to settle at 11.435 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 4.41% to 20.820 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 661 to 106 and 48 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.74% to 19.25.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.12% or 1.60 to $1338.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.98% or 0.64 to hit $64.81 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.63% or 0.43 to trade at $68.15 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.35% to 1.2413, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8857.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 89.36.
