Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Technology and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.70%, while the MDAX index lost 0.52%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which rose 1.44% or 0.380 points to trade at 26.760 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 0.55% or 0.085 points to end at 15.675 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) was up 0.48% or 0.058 points to 12.224 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which lost 1.66% or 0.133 points to trade at 7.885 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) declined 1.60% or 0.350 points to end at 21.530 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) shed 1.59% or 0.210 points to 13.015.
The top performers on the MDAX were Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which rose 3.48% to 107.100, Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which was up 2.01% to settle at 23.400 and Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which gained 1.67% to close at 57.850.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 8.00% to 73.880 in late trade, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which lost 3.40% to settle at 0.37 and Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was down 3.14% to 104.900 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 2.69% to 45.000, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 2.30% to settle at 10.250 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 2.10% to close at 75.200.
The worst performers were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 2.81% to 24.200 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which lost 2.69% to settle at 26.780 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 2.61% to 108.100 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 460 to 270 and 73 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 11.73% to 25.43.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.32% or 4.20 to $1330.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.29% or 0.17 to hit $59.12 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.04 to trade at $62.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.58% to 1.2363, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.8901.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.53% at 89.53.
