Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Insurance, Technology and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.43%, while the MDAX index declined 0.61%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which rose 2.53% or 3.550 points to trade at 144.100 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 2.21% or 0.440 points to end at 20.335 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 1.82% or 0.62 points to 34.92 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 4.30% or 0.535 points to trade at 11.910 in late trade. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 3.13% or 4.000 points to end at 123.700 and Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (DE:BMWG) shed 3.05% or 2.390 points to 75.970.
The top performers on the MDAX were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which rose 3.52% to 48.225, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which was up 1.38% to settle at 32.990 and Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which gained 1.33% to close at 117.850.
The worst performers were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was down 5.03% to 27.080 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which lost 4.43% to settle at 83.610 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 3.41% to 18.680 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which rose 6.99% to 20.505, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 2.57% to settle at 15.740 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which gained 1.10% to close at 57.200.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 9.86% to 6.262 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 5.10% to settle at 25.605 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 4.18% to 7.980 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 513 to 362 and 24 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.26% to 18.58.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.42% or 5.55 to $1340.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.48% or 0.62 to hit $41.30 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.12% or 0.49 to trade at $43.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.1086, while EUR/GBP rose 0.81% to 0.8431.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 96.58.
