Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Retail and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.41%, while the MDAX index lost 1.10%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.97%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which rose 0.65% or 0.530 points to trade at 82.580 at the close. SAP SE (DE:SAPG) added 0.62% or 0.590 points to end at 95.600 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 0.54% or 0.120 points to 22.305 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which lost 1.95% or 1.810 points to trade at 91.050 in late trade. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) declined 1.92% or 3.65 points to end at 186.85 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) shed 1.39% or 3.00 points to 213.05.

The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which rose 0.27% to 16.910, Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which was up 0.26% to settle at 34.145 and Hannover Rueck SE (DE:HNRGn) which gained 0.19% to close at 106.15.

The worst performers were Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was down 13.02% to 66.90 in late trade, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which lost 3.24% to settle at 56.500 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was down 3.08% to 111.800 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which rose 3.20% to 68.120, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was up 2.02% to settle at 4.594 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which gained 2.00% to close at 73.930.

The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 5.62% to 20.575 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 4.51% to settle at 35.800 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 3.32% to 247.50 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 552 to 203 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 11.50% to 12.24.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.55% or 7.09 to $1290.09 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.31% or 0.68 to hit $51.36 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.63% or 0.95 to trade at $57.20 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.44% to 1.1839, while EUR/GBP rose 0.69% to 0.8988.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 93.04.
