Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction, Transportation & Logistics and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.33%, while the MDAX index lost 0.20%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN), which rose 1.89% or 4.40 points to trade at 237.20 at the close. Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) added 1.14% or 5.80 points to end at 516.80 and Deutsche Boerse AG (ETR:DB1Gn) was up 1.05% or 2.20 points to 212.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), which lost 1.98% or 4.90 points to trade at 242.00 in late trade. Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) declined 1.71% or 8.30 points to end at 478.30 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) shed 1.51% or 0.25 points to 16.02.
The top performers on the MDAX were Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which rose 4.20% to 29.28, Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which was up 4.09% to settle at 93.20 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which gained 2.34% to close at 67.85.
The worst performers were Tui AG NA (ETR:TUI1n) which was down 4.69% to 6.39 in late trade, Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:LHAG) which lost 4.49% to settle at 6.13 and Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 4.00% to 12.96 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which rose 4.46% to 45.86, PNE Wind AG (ETR:PNEGn) which was up 2.89% to settle at 12.10 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which gained 2.34% to close at 67.85.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was down 4.00% to 12.96 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which lost 2.03% to settle at 17.87 and Freenet AG NA (ETR:FNTGn) which was down 2.02% to 26.24 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 341 to 269 and 33 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 14.14% to 18.84.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.65% or 17.55 to $2,672.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.32% or 0.22 to hit $70.05 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.26% or 0.19 to trade at $73.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 101.25.
