Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Insurance and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.13% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index added 0.41%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which rose 5.37% or 12.80 points to trade at 251.30 at the close. Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) added 2.17% or 4.10 points to end at 193.10 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) was up 1.32% or 1.50 points to 115.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which lost 2.09% or 0.192 points to trade at 9.016 in late trade. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) declined 2.08% or 3.60 points to end at 169.15 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) shed 1.51% or 0.460 points to 30.100.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which rose 4.14% to 50.820, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was up 2.86% to settle at 55.80 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which gained 2.82% to close at 15.30.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 5.36% to 0.51 in late trade, CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which lost 2.45% to settle at 39.740 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 1.77% to 44.51 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 6.06% to 10.235, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 3.04% to settle at 26.800 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which gained 3.00% to close at 29.540.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 3.53% to 12.420 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 3.07% to settle at 14.055 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 2.12% to 6.930 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 437 to 301 and 79 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.23% to 12.24.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.70% or 9.20 to $1311.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.51% or 0.93 to hit $62.66 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.11% or 0.75 to trade at $68.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1923, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8815.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 92.31.
