Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Telecoms and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.02%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.06%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG), which rose 2.00% or 1.93 points to trade at 98.43 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 1.63% or 1.80 points to end at 111.90 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was up 1.09% or 0.990 points to 91.720 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 5.31% or 1.075 points to trade at 19.155 in late trade. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) declined 1.88% or 1.600 points to end at 83.700 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) shed 1.78% or 0.200 points to 11.030.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which rose 2.39% to 75.000, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was up 1.93% to settle at 39.355 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which gained 1.26% to close at 54.830.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 2.42% to 37.295 in late trade, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which lost 2.10% to settle at 92.420 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 2.06% to 71.700 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 3.71% to 10.090, Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which was up 2.62% to settle at 27.585 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 1.46% to close at 47.890.
The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 2.32% to 37.085 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 2.19% to settle at 11.185 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 1.33% to 12.655 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 410 to 340 and 38 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.55% to 12.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.03% or 13.41 to $1310.91 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.03% or 1.03 to hit $51.69 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.38% or 1.34 to trade at $57.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.96% to 1.1842, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.8804.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.58% at 92.48.
