Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Media and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.92%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.73%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN), which rose 2.73% or 1.890 points to trade at 71.160 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) added 2.68% or 0.340 points to end at 13.010 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) was up 1.96% or 0.625 points to 32.500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which lost 1.56% or 0.215 points to trade at 13.565 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) declined 0.89% or 0.215 points to end at 23.935 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) shed 0.77% or 0.235 points to 30.355.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which rose 2.25% to 28.350, Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which was up 2.12% to settle at 54.800 and Deutsche Euroshop AG O.N. (XETRA:DEQGn) which gained 2.08% to close at 46.795.
The worst performers were Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which was down 0.92% to 45.625 in late trade, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which lost 0.74% to settle at 11.460 and Metro AG ST O.N. (XETRA:MEOG) which was down 0.61% to 31.040 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which rose 4.39% to 165.150, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was up 3.14% to settle at 45.595 and Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which gained 2.99% to close at 4.370.
The worst performers were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 13.40% to 10.700 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which lost 2.82% to settle at 115.600 and Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which was down 1.90% to 3.928 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 488 to 243 and 36 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 9.36% to 17.52.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.35% or 4.20 to $1191.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.19% or 0.09 to hit $47.36 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.96% or 0.54 to trade at $55.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.0927, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.7348.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 97.38.
