Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Insurance, Basic Resources and Telecom sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.18%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.75%, and the TecDAX index added 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were BASF SE NA O.N. (XETRA:BASFN), which rose 2.67% or 2.400 points to trade at 92.330 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) added 2.27% or 4.500 points to end at 203.100 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (XETRA:ALVG) was up 2.08% or 3.300 points to 161.750 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN), which lost 0.50% or 0.350 points to trade at 70.300 in late trade. Siemens AG NA (XETRA:SIEGn) declined 0.30% or 0.300 points to end at 100.650 and Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) gained 0.09% or 0.100 points to 110.300.
The top performers on the MDAX were Tag Immobilien AG (XETRA:TEGG) which rose 4.31% to 12.695, Evonik Industries AG (XETRA:EVKn) which was up 4.29% to settle at 33.160 and Kion Group AG (XETRA:KGX) which gained 3.89% to close at 38.55.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 4.96% to 11.885 in late trade, RTL Group SA (XETRA:RRTL) which lost 1.44% to settle at 87.690 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (XETRA:PSMGn) which was down 1.44% to 45.265 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which rose 7.28% to 3.991, SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was up 5.03% to settle at 12.745 and Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which gained 3.20% to close at 37.750.
The worst performers were PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was down 4.43% to 11.985 in late trade, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which lost 4.19% to settle at 43.545 and Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was down 2.46% to 5.863 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 474 to 270 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.90% to 18.43.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 1.30% or 15.20 to $1184.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in May rose 2.99% or 1.36 to hit $46.89 a barrel, while the May Brent Oil contract rose 0.73% or 0.40 to trade at $54.83 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.82% to 1.0853, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.7246.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.60% at 97.86.
