Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.09%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Lafarge (PARIS:LAFP), which rose 5.45% or 3.24 points to trade at 62.67 at the close. Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) added 1.75% or 0.79 points to end at 46.00 and Danone SA (PARIS:DANO) was up 1.03% or 0.64 points to 62.88 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Renault SA (PARIS:RENA), which lost 4.36% or 3.79 points to trade at 83.08 in late trade. Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) declined 3.18% or 4.45 points to end at 135.65 and Legrand SA (PARIS:LEGD) shed 1.99% or 1.00 points to 49.29.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Lafarge (PARIS:LAFP) which rose 5.45% to 62.67, Neopost (PARIS:NPOS) which was up 4.02% to settle at 53.77 and Virbac (PARIS:VIRB) which gained 2.93% to close at 243.95.
The worst performers were Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) which was down 4.36% to 83.08 in late trade, Zodiac Aerospace (PARIS:ZODC) which lost 4.33% to settle at 33.12 and Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which was down 3.75% to 52.310 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 483 to 417 and 60 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.39% to 18.53.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.28% or 3.20 to $1151.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in May fell 1.81% or 0.82 to hit $44.37 a barrel, while the May Brent Oil contract rose 0.70% or 0.38 to trade at $53.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.68% to 1.0666, while EUR/GBP rose 0.85% to 0.7246.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.56% at 99.48.
