Investing.com – China equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Media and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite added 1.35%, while the SZSE Component index added 1.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Routon Electronic Co Ltd (SS:600355), which rose 10.15% or 0.330 points to trade at 3.580 at the close. Sichuan Em Technology Co Ltd (SS:601208) added 10.12% or 0.340 points to end at 3.700 and Changchun Sinoenergy Corp (SS:600856) was up 10.12% or 0.420 points to 4.570 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zhejiang Shenghua Biok Biology Co Ltd (SS:600226), which lost 10.09% or 0.460 points to trade at 4.100 in late trade. Zhejiang Qianjiang Biochemical Co Ltd (SS:600796) declined 10.03% or 0.610 points to end at 5.470 and Anhui Andeli Department Store Co Ltd (SS:603031) shed 9.99% or 1.580 points to 14.240.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Jiuzhitang Co Ltd (SZ:000989) which rose 10.03% to 10.20, China Minmetals Rare Earth Co Ltd (SZ:000831) which was up 10.03% to settle at 9.87 and Sichuan Danfu Compressor Co Ltd (SZ:002366) which gained 9.95% to close at 8.40.
The worst performers were Guangdong Homa Appliances Co Ltd (SZ:002668) which was down 9.99% to 9.55 in late trade, Sealand Securities Co Ltd (SZ:000750) which lost 3.47% to settle at 4.73 and Guoyuan Securities Co Ltd (SZ:000728) which was down 3.10% to 7.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1255 to 174 and 37 ended unchanged on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 6.10% to 31.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.31% or 3.80 to $1218.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.91% or 0.60 to hit $66.78 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.30% or 0.99 to trade at $76.90 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.02% to 6.9689, while EUR/CNY rose 0.08% to 7.9107.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 96.76.
