Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the IT, Energy and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Osisko Mining Corp (TSX:OSK), which rose 3.59% or 0.11 points to trade at 3.17 at the close. Eldorado Gold Corp (TSX:ELD) added 3.33% or 0.74 points to end at 22.93 and Seabridge Gold Inc . (TSX:SEA) was up 3.30% or 0.74 points to 23.17 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Celestica Inc. (TSX:CLS), which lost 4.99% or 3.64 points to trade at 69.25 in late trade. Advantage Oil & Gas Ltd. (TSX:AAV) declined 3.89% or 0.38 points to end at 9.39 and Kelt Exploration Ltd. (TSX:KEL) shed 3.05% or 0.18 points to 5.72.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 561 to 372 and 108 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 1.37% to 12.96.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.01% or 0.25 to $2,427.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.66% or 1.28 to hit $75.88 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.49% or 1.20 to trade at $79.08 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.20% to 0.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 104.34.
