Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Electric Power and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which rose 6.19% or 0.70 points to trade at 12.00 at the close. Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3) added 4.24% or 1.18 points to end at 29.00 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 3.92% or 0.75 points to 19.87 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which lost 4.60% or 1.39 points to trade at 28.80 in late trade. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) declined 4.16% or 2.14 points to end at 49.31 and Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4) shed 2.42% or 0.32 points to 12.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 211 to 209 and 32 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.78% to 33.31.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.42% or 5.10 to $1222.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.46% or 0.31 to hit $68.06 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.46% or 0.50 to trade at $108.58 .
USD/BRL was down 0.45% to 3.8321, while EUR/BRL fell 0.45% to 4.4620.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 94.97.
