Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Telecoms and Pharma & Bio-technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.72% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 0.64% or 0.48 points to trade at 75.88 at the close. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) fell 0.21% or 0.12 points to end at 57.40 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) was down 0.57% or 0.04 points to 7.79 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which lost 5.53% or 5.12 points to trade at 87.54 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 3.99% or 0.96 points to end at 23.08 and Telenet Group Holding NV (BR:TNET) shed 3.41% or 1.40 points to 39.64.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 94 to 19 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.18% or 2.30 to $1250.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.01% or 1.06 to hit $51.55 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.35% or 0.83 to trade at $60.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1368, while EUR/GBP rose 1.15% to 0.9046.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.60% at 97.058.
