Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.91% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS), which rose 5.61% or 4.23 points to trade at 79.61 at the close. Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) added 4.74% or 0.54 points to end at 11.94 and D’Ieteren NV (EBR:IETB) was up 2.77% or 5.30 points to 196.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB SA (EBR:UCB), which lost 1.53% or 2.50 points to trade at 161.35 in late trade. Proximus NV (EBR:PROX) declined 0.91% or 0.07 points to end at 7.04 and Sofina (EBR:SOF) shed 0.55% or 1.40 points to 254.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 75 to 30 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.95% or 25.70 to $2,669.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.58% or 0.39 to hit $68.06 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.30 to trade at $71.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 100.21.
