Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Banking and Electronic Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.08% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which rose 4.13% or 2.80 points to trade at 70.54 at the close. Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) added 3.51% or 1.38 points to end at 40.59 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 3.11% or 1.74 points to 57.61 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sanofi SA (PA:SASY), which lost 6.84% or 6.38 points to trade at 86.90 in late trade. LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA:LVMH) declined 2.74% or 4.75 points to end at 168.75 and Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) shed 1.88% or 0.425 points to 22.140.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Aperam (AS:APAM) which rose 20.08% to 33.52, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was up 4.83% to settle at 7.179 and Saft (PA:S1A) which gained 4.83% to close at 26.25.
The worst performers were Solocal Group SA (PA:LOCAL) which was down 7.27% to 8.000 in late trade, Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) which lost 6.84% to settle at 86.90 and JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which was down 3.00% to 36.52 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 413 to 324 and 47 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.64% to 19.75.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.49% or 16.40 to $1087.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.70% or 0.77 to hit $44.43 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.14% or 0.55 to trade at $47.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.39% to 1.0732, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.7136.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.29% at 99.36.
