Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Construction and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 2.12%, while the MDAX index lost 1.68%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (XETRA:BEIG), which rose 0.67% or 0.510 points to trade at 77.160 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) fell 0.33% or 0.550 points to end at 167.300 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) was down 0.70% or 0.500 points to 70.880 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which lost 7.46% or 8.000 points to trade at 99.300 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) declined 4.68% or 1.155 points to end at 23.520 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGn) shed 4.54% or 1.405 points to 29.510.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which rose 1.61% to 56.830, Fraport AG (XETRA:FRAG) which was up 0.49% to settle at 53.850 and Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which gained 0.38% to close at 65.290.
The worst performers were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was down 5.33% to 13.065 in late trade, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which lost 4.47% to settle at 17.000 and Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which was down 4.41% to 51.550 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which rose 5.04% to 188.600, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which was up 2.57% to settle at 99.800 and Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which gained 1.11% to close at 36.125.
The worst performers were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 6.94% to 241.400 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which lost 5.00% to settle at 58.380 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was down 5.00% to 5.127 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 526 to 145 and 41 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 8.51% to 28.19.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.01% or 11.60 to $1134.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.25% or 1.03 to hit $44.67 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.19% or 1.06 to trade at $47.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.1229, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.7388.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 96.13.
