Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.19%, while the MDAX index gained 1.76%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG), which rose 3.90% or 2.450 points to trade at 65.280 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) added 3.05% or 2.270 points to end at 76.600 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) was up 3.04% or 0.500 points to 16.950 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn), which lost 0.49% or 0.050 points to trade at 10.155 in late trade. Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) declined 0.16% or 0.120 points to end at 74.350 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) shed 0.11% or 0.035 points to 31.985.
The top performers on the MDAX were Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (XETRA:SY1G) which rose 4.89% to 63.490, Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was up 4.30% to settle at 54.000 and Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:FPEG_p) which gained 3.93% to close at 41.130.
The worst performers were GEA Group AG (XETRA:G1AG) which was down 0.87% to 38.215 in late trade, Hochtief AG (XETRA:HOTG) which lost 0.73% to settle at 78.850 and Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which was down 0.71% to 38.425 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which rose 9.12% to 42.000, PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was up 4.24% to settle at 11.925 and QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which gained 4.18% to close at 1.895.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was down 4.30% to 32.235 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which lost 3.97% to settle at 3.431 and Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was down 3.78% to 10.175 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 526 to 219 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 8.81% to 17.60.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.42% or 4.60 to $1090.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.08% or 1.45 to hit $45.67 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 4.26% or 2.23 to trade at $49.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.0957, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.7024.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 97.54.
