Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Technology and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.92%, while the MDAX index gained 0.87%, and the TecDAX index added 2.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which rose 3.63% or 3.460 points to trade at 98.790 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 3.39% or 0.440 points to end at 13.435 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 3.08% or 0.340 points to 11.395 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 4.30% or 0.695 points to trade at 15.485 in late trade. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) declined 1.29% or 1.020 points to end at 78.110 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) shed 1.17% or 0.088 points to 7.407.
The top performers on the MDAX were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which rose 6.29% to 47.515, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which was up 4.93% to settle at 13.400 and Osram Licht (F:OSRn) which gained 4.33% to close at 41.577.
The worst performers were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which was down 2.66% to 14.095 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which lost 0.96% to settle at 40.775 and Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (DE:ZILGn) which was down 0.88% to 21.430 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which rose 7.07% to 158.950, LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which was up 6.01% to settle at 6.496 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which gained 4.78% to close at 43.035.
The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which was up 0.22% to 3.199 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which gained 0.61% to settle at 222.000 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was up 0.69% to 81.690 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 462 to 131 and 11 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 26.54.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.88% or 10.70 to $1222.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.82% or 0.25 to hit $30.91 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.20 to trade at $34.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1107, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.7749.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 96.90.
