Investing.com – U.S. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.13%, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.39%, and the NASDAQ Composite index lost 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS), which rose 6.30% or 5.78 points to trade at 97.58 at the close. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) added 2.11% or 0.84 points to end at 40.59 and Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO) was up 1.54% or 0.94 points to 62.08 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), which lost 3.11% or 0.93 points to trade at 28.94 in late trade. UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:UNH) declined 2.42% or 12.81 points to end at 517.19 and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) shed 2.17% or 3.28 points to 148.01.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were STERIS plc (NYSE:STE) which rose 7.05% to 177.21, Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) which was up 6.30% to settle at 97.58 and Nucor Corp (NYSE:NUE) which gained 4.94% to close at 149.04.
The worst performers were Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) which was down 6.84% to 167.87 in late trade, Estee Lauder Companies Inc (NYSE:EL) which lost 6.23% to settle at 218.92 and PayPal Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:PYPL) which was down 5.05% to 80.63 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Imago Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:IMGO) which rose 104.54% to 35.59, Neuroone Medical Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:NMTC) which was up 42.86% to settle at 1.20 and OncoSec Medical Inc (NASDAQ:ONCS) which gained 42.23% to close at 4.85.
The worst performers were TuanChe ADR (NASDAQ:TC) which was down 80.20% to 1.38 in late trade, G Medical Innovations Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:GMVD) which lost 25.14% to settle at 3.93 and Eqonex Ltd (NASDAQ:EQOS) which was down 23.89% to 0.21 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 0 fell and 0 advanced on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 22.36 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.31% or 5.40 to $1,745.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.72% or 0.58 to hit $80.62 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.88% or 0.77 to trade at $88.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 1.03, while USD/JPY fell 0.21% to 141.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 107.49.
