Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Transport, Finance & Investment and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 1.51%, while the ADX General index declined 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI), which rose 1.03% or 0.005 points to trade at 0.490 at the close. AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) added 0.64% or 0.010 points to end at 1.580 and Amanat Holdings PJSC (DU:AMANT) was up 0.25% or 0.002 points to 0.817 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which lost 3.96% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.970 in late trade. Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) declined 2.96% or 0.250 points to end at 8.200 and Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) shed 2.94% or 0.040 points to 1.320.
The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which rose 14.84% to 2.090, Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was up 5.13% to settle at 0.410 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which gained 0.69% to close at 1.46.
The worst performers were Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was down 8.14% to 2.710 in late trade, Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which lost 2.53% to settle at 0.7700 and Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which was down 2.35% to 0.8300 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 28 to 4 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 16 fell and 6 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.66% or 0.80 to $47.30 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.96% or 0.48 to hit $49.48 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.33% or 4.45 to trade at $1341.65 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.27% to 4.1427.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 94.61.
