Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Mining and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BP PLC (LON:BP), which rose 0.92% or 3.55 points to trade at 391.70 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 0.79% or 15.00 points to end at 1,911.00 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) was up 0.43% or 10.00 points to 2,333.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV), which lost 7.66% or 51.20 points to trade at 617.40 in late trade. Smiths Group PLC (LON:SMIN) declined 4.77% or 84.00 points to end at 1,677.00 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICGIN) shed 4.46% or 104.00 points to 2,228.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1206 to 633 and 632 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.40% or 10.65 to $2,657.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.17% or 0.80 to hit $68.98 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.15% or 0.82 to trade at $72.36 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.20% to 1.34, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 100.36.
