Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Metals, Food & Beverages and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 fell 1.88% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Turk Hava Yollari AO (IS:THYAO), which rose 5.39% or 0.730 points to trade at 14.280 at the close. Ipek Dogal Enerji Kaynaklari Arastirma ve Uretim AS (IS:IPEKE) added 4.62% or 0.220 points to end at 4.980 and Besiktas Futbol Yatirimlari Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (IS:BJKAS) was up 3.57% or 0.080 points to 2.320 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anadolu Efes Biracilik ve Malt Sanayi AS (IS:AEFES), which lost 7.74% or 1.66 points to trade at 19.78 in late trade. Turkiye Petrol Rafinerileri AS (IS:TUPRS) declined 7.41% or 7.85 points to end at 98.15 and Mavi Giyim Sanayi Ve Ticaret AS (IS:MAVI) shed 7.17% or 2.40 points to 31.08.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 257 to 119 and 32 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.28% or 3.50 to $1247.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.22% or 0.86 to hit $69.52 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $73.41 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 1.13% to 4.8204, while EUR/TRY fell 0.95% to 5.6426.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 94.44.
