Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Consumer Goods and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were SOLARIA ENERGIA Y MEDIO AMBIENTE (BME:SLRS), which rose 6.01% or 0.47 points to trade at 8.28 at the close. Corporacion Acciona Energias Renovables SA (BME:ANE) added 5.17% or 0.92 points to end at 18.72 and Grifols SA (BME:GRLS) was up 2.82% or 0.26 points to 9.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA (BME:BBVA), which lost 1.63% or 0.15 points to trade at 9.30 in late trade. Unicaja Banco SA (BME:UNI) declined 1.57% or 0.02 points to end at 1.25 and Banco Santander (BME:SAN) shed 1.38% or 0.06 points to 4.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 153 to 56 and 16 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.18% or 31.04 to $2,672.04 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.64% or 1.89 to hit $73.61 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.34% or 1.75 to trade at $76.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.84% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.27% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.74% at 109.10.
