Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Power, Metals and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.37%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors Ltd . (NS:TAMO), which rose 3.29% or 16.15 points to trade at 507.20 at the close. Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) added 3.26% or 10.40 points to end at 329.40 and Bharti Infratel Limited (NS:BHRI) was up 2.61% or 9.200 points to 361.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bajaj Auto Limited (NS:BAJA), which lost 1.80% or 50.00 points to trade at 2720.60 in late trade. ACC Ltd (NS:ACC) declined 1.56% or 26.65 points to end at 1681.55 and Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) shed 1.02% or 1.55 points to 150.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 7.44% to 168.95, Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was up 3.21% to settle at 506.40 and Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which gained 1.78% to close at 1355.65.
The worst performers were Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which was down 1.60% to 2720.75 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 0.95% to settle at 223.45 and Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was down 0.83% to 330.50 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 887 to 587 and 56 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 926 rose and 675 declined, while 63 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.37% to 15.4975.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.53% or 7.00 to $1324.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.18% or 0.08 to hit $44.83 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.20 to trade at $46.40 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 67.126, while EUR/INR fell 0.15% to 73.9450.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 97.16.
